  • Recommendation:

    BE IT RESOLVED THAT the minutes from the Regular Council meeting held July 11, 2022, be approved as presented and circulated.

WHEREAS August 1, 1834, was the date that slavery was abolished throughout the British Colonies by King William IV pursuant to the Slavery Abolition Act of 1833; and


WHEREAS within fifteen years of the abolition of slavery, between 35,000 and 40,000 Black settlers made their way to Ontario, in large part, by the Underground Railroad into Southwestern Ontario;


NOW THEREFORE as an expression of our respect for human liberty and freedom and in recognition of the richness of the culture and history brought to Ontario by African Canadians, I, Mayor Wade Mills, do hereby proclaim August 1, 2022, as Emancipation Day in the Town of Shelburne.

  • Recommendation:

    BE IT RESOLVED THAT Council receives report P2022-23 for information;

    AND THAT leave be given for the reading and enacting of By-law #38-2022 being a by-law to approve Part Lot Control Exemption Application PLC22/01 for Blocks 206-214 on Registered Plan 7M-79.

  • Recommendation:

    BE IT RESOLVED THAT Council receive Report P2022-24 for information;
    AND THAT Council directs the Town Planner to provide a copy of Report P2022-24 to the County of Dufferin as a summary of the Town’s comments regarding the County’s revised Draft Land Needs Analysis and growth allocations prepared for the Dufferin County Municipal Comprehensive Review.

  • Recommendation:

    BE IT RESOLVED that Council receive Report P2022-25 for information;

    AND THAT, notwithstanding the provisions of the Town’s Development Charges By-law Nos. 31-2015, 19-2020, 20-2020, 21-2020, 46-2020 and 11-2021 regarding the annual indexing of development charges, Council direct staff to implement the annual adjustment for 2022 in two phases effective July 25, 2022, and October 31, 2022, with transition provisions, as outlined in Report P2022-25.

  • Recommendation:

    BE IT RESOLVED THAT Council of the Town of Shelburne receives the staff report FS 2022-10 with respect to the Municipal Disposal of Assets Policy;

    AND FURTHER THAT leave be given for the reading and enacting of By-Law #39-2022 being a By-Law to adopt the Municipal Disposal of Assets Policy as presented.

  • Recommendation:

    BE IT RESOLVED THAT Council receives report LS 2022-14 for information;

    AND THAT leave be given for the reading and enacting of By-law #42-2022 being a by-law to set out general terms regarding the delivery of NG911 services to the Municipality.

  • Recommendation:

    BE IT RESOLVED THAT Council receives report LS 2022-15 for information;

    AND THAT leave be given for the reading and enacting of By-law #35-2022 being a by-law to regulate the smoking and vaping of tobacco on municipally owned or leased properties within the Town of Shelburne.

  • Recommendation:

    BE IT RESOLVED THAT leave be given for the reading and enacting of By-law #40-2022 being a by-law to declare land described as 420 Victoria Street, Shelburne as surplus to the needs of the Town of Shelburne and to offer the property for sale.

  • Recommendation:

    BE IT RESOLVED THAT leave be given for the reading and enacting of By-law #41-2022 being a By-law to Authorize the Town of Shelburne to Enter into an Agreement with Her Majesty The Queen in Right of Ontario as Represented by the Minister of Infrastructure.

BE IT RESOLVED THAT Staff look into what it would take to have a transit stop installed near the new commercial development on Highway 89 and County Road 124 and report back to Council regarding the possible options and costs associated.
