Council meeting called to order by Mayor Mills at 6:31 pm

Land Acknowledgement:


We would like to begin by respectfully acknowledging that the Town of Shelburne resides within the traditional territory and ancestral lands of the Anishinaabe, including the Ojibway, Potawatomi, Chippewa and the People of the Three Fires Confederacy.


These traditional territories upon which we live, work, play and learn are steeped in rich Indigenous history and traditions. It is with this statement that we declare to honour and respect the past and present connection of Indigenous peoples with this land, its waterways and resources. 

Members of Council are required to state any pecuniary interest in accordance with the Municipal Conflict of Interest Act.

Councillor Wegener declared a conflict with the application for the Shelburne & District Agricultural Society as she is a member of the board.

Emily Darling on behalf of the Children's Foundation of Guelph Wellington presented the grant request to Council.

Sharon Morden of Feral Cat Rescue presented the grant request to Council and answered questions from Council.

Yvonne Montell of G.E.T. Outreachworks (Gathering Evolving Transforming) presented the grant request to Council. 

Jeremy and Carola Little of Haunt in the Park - the Little Family presented the grant request to Council. 

Greg and Heather Holmes of Pickin' in the Park presented the grant request to Council and answered questions of Council.

Councillor Lindsay Wegener exited the meeting at 7:29 due to a conflict as she is a board member for the Shelburne & District Agricultural Society.

Sue Peterson of Shelburne & District Agricultural Society presented the grant request to Council and answered questions of Council. 

Councillor Lindsay Wegener returned to the meeting at 7:37 pm.

Beverley Farmer of Shelburne & District Horticultural Society presented the grant request to Council.

Michael Conte of the Shelburne Rotary Club - Backpack Project presented the grant request to Council. 

Michael Conte of the Shelburne Rotary Club - Hamper Program presented the grant request to Council and answered questions of Council.

Michelle Chidwick of the Shelburne Rotary Club - Pumpkinfest presented the grant request to Council and answered questions of Council.

Ardith Dunlop & Anthony Gagliardi of Shepherd's Cupboard FoodbanK - Van sponsorship presented the grant requests to Council and answered questions of Council.

Juli-Anne James of Streams Community Hub presented the grant request to Council.

Sabine Rohner Tensee of Trinity Primrose United Church presented the grant request to Council and answered questions of Council.

    THAT the Municipal Grant Funding Review Committee bring forward funding recommendations for Council's consideration up to a budget maximum of $42,500.00.

    BE IT RESOLVED THAT leave be given for the reading and enacting of By-law 37-2024 being a By-law to confirm certain proceedings of the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Shelburne for its regular council meeting held September 9, 2024.
