We would like to begin by respectfully acknowledging that the Town of Shelburne resides within the traditional territory and ancestral lands of the Anishinaabe, including the Ojibway, Potawatomi, Chippewa and the People of the Three Fires Confederacy.


These traditional territories upon which we live, work, play and learn are steeped in rich Indigenous history and traditions. It is with this statement that we declare to honour and respect the past and present connection of Indigenous peoples with this land, its waterways and resources. 

Members of Council are required to state any pecuniary interest in accordance with the Municipal Conflict of Interest Act.

  • Recommendation:

    BE IT RESOLVED THAT the minutes from the Regular Council meeting held March 11, 2024 be approved as presented and circulated.

  • Recommendation:

    BE IT RESOLVED THAT the presentation by Dufferin OPP regarding auto Theft Trends, Prevention, Tips and Enforcement Strategies be received as information.

  • Recommendation:

    BE IT RESOLVED THAT the presentation by Dufferin Community Foundation regarding Funding Charities and Building Community, Every Year, Forever be received as information.

WHEREAS, 24 million Canadians give their time through formal or informal types of volunteering, and locally 2723 individuals, and 179 member organizations are registered with VolunteerDufferin.ca; and


WHEREAS, volunteers in Shelburne mentor our children, support those feeling isolated, beautify our green spaces, and fundraise for our charitable organizations; and


WHEREAS, the theme for the celebration of National Volunteer Week 2024 is “Every Moment Matters,” volunteers in Shelburne share their time, skills, empathy and creativity with each and every contribution they make, at a moment when we need support more than ever before; and


WHEREAS, volunteers are vital to making a collective impact on the strength, inclusivity, quality of life and well-being of our communities; and


WHEREAS, Shelburne’s volunteers are individuals, families, workers, retirees, community members of all ages and backgrounds; and


WHEREAS, the collective result of the work done by our town’s volunteers is that Shelburne is a more desirable place to live; and


WHEREAS, volunteers serve on Boards, help host community festivals, stock shelves at food banks, deliver meals to seniors, help in schools, plant community gardens; and


WHEREAS, organizations in Shelburne that rely on volunteers are the fundamental backbone of what helps to make our community thrive;


NOW, THEREFORE, I, Wade Mills, Mayor of Shelburne do hereby proclaim April 14 - 20, 2024, as National Volunteer Week, and urge my fellow citizens to recognize the crucial role played by volunteers in our community.

  • Recommendation:

    BE IT RESOLVED THAT the proclamation request from Volunteer Dufferin/Headwaters Communities in Action regarding National Volunteer Week be approved.

  • Recommendation:

    BE IT RESOLVED THAT Council receives report DO 2024-04 Pilot Painted Crosswalk Program Review for information;

    AND THAT the Pilot Painted Crosswalk Program be discontinued.

  • Recommendation:

    BE IT RESOLVED THAT Council of the Town of Shelburne receives the staff report FS 2024-04 with respect to the March 31, 2024 Financial Report for information.

  • Recommendation:

    BE IT RESOLVED THAT leave be given for the reading and enacting of By-law 16-2024 being a by-law to amend By-law #30-2023 being a By-law to appoint Municipal Law Enforcement Officers for the Corporation of the Town of Shelburne.

  • Recommendation:

    BE IT RESOLVED THAT leave be given for the reading and enacting of By-law 17-2024 being a By-law to confirm certain proceedings of the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Shelburne for its regular council meeting held April 8, 2024.
